Samson put this clip on Instagram yesterday, so naturally I went mad and made a 1-minute low-volume remix.
If you’ve read this far, I’m gonna assume you’re interested in how I made it!
Drums: I put Vulf Compressor on this, and put an auto-panned delay on the snare, using Soundtoys plug-ins for the panning and the delay. Seeing as the drums were a single, mono track taken from the Instagram video, I had to use a gate set to open on the frequency of the snare to actually isolate it. I’m glad it worked!
Synths: The chords track is a Jupiter-8 VST, and the lead is a Minimoog VST. Both are made by Arturia I think.
Piano: I used Addictive Keys for this. I used the “detune sample” function to give it a slightly wonky quality, then put Wow Control on it to give it a really wobbly, tape-sim effect.
Bass: Precision bass with foam & flats, Cali76 compressor, Noble preamp, Vulf Compressor, Tone Control. I love this set-up.
Guitar: A simple guitar amp sim, Roland chorus and Vulf Compressor.
Other mix notes: I put Megaverb on my main reverb send. It’s quickly become one of my favourite reverbs. So vibey. I’m also experimenting with other Goodhertz plugins in my mastering chain – a touch of Vulf Compressor, Tone Control, Midside, Faraday Limiter and Good Dither. (There was a sale on a couple of months ago, what else was I going to do?)
Hope you enjoy this! Any other questions, just let me know in the comments below.
